JOHN THEDE (2) is the son of Heinrich Thede and Caroline (Schultz) Thede. John was born on February 7, 1835 in Mecklinburg Schwerin, Germany. John immigrated to Bruce County, Ontario, Canada. On October 9, 1865, John Thede married Sophia Marie Dorothea Hanna Holtz. Dorothea was born on February 19, 1846 in Mecklinburg, Germany. At the age of eight, Dorothea immigrated to Bruce County, Ontario, Canada. For additional information on Dorothy Holtz, see the sketch of Father of Dorothy Holtz (21). Soon after John and Dorotheas marriage, they moved to Caledonia, Michigan. They then purchased a 160 acre tract of land and cleared it. Clarence returned to Howell, Michigan where he taught until his retirement in 1984. Portia received a degree in music and plays cello in the city symphony. Portia is also a private music teacher. Clarence and Portia reside in Midland, Michigan. Earl, Glen and Mary Thede are adopted children of Clarence and Portia Thede. Alan Thede died the day that he was born on September 10, 1955. Earl Thede graduated from Howell High School. Laurie Thede died as an child on September 13, 1963 at the Lapeer State Hospital.

Ken was the pharmacy director at Lakeview General Osteopathic Hospital in Battle Creek, Michigan. Ken retired in 1992 as a pharmacist with the Veterans Administration Hospital in Battle Creek. DIANE MARIE THEDE (6) is the daughter of Kenneth Alfred Thede and Eleanor June (Santelman) Thede. Diane was born on August 7, 1957 in Battle Creek, Michigan. In June of 1975, Diane graduated from Battle Creek Central High School and then attended Kellogg Community College in Battle Creek, Michigan. While Diane was attending school, she also worked part time for three and one-half years as a pharmacy technician at Lakeview General Osteopathic Hospital. In 1977, Diane transferred to Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas where Diane received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing in 1980. At Texas Christian University, Diane was a member of Alpha Phi Sorority and Angel Flight, an honorary service organization affiliated with Air Force R. O. T. C. In 1979, Diane was selected Little Major and represented her university at a national competition. At Texas Christian University, Diane was also a member of Alpha Phi Sorority. After graduation from Texas Christian University, Diane worked in the Marketing Department of Classic Chemical in Grand Prairie, Texas and then at the Baxter Agency in Fort Worth as the Director of Account Services. From 1983 to 1987, Diane was an Account Executive for the Anderson Fischel advertising agency in Dallas, Texas. On March 2, 1985, Diane Thede married Robert Brooks Casey at his home in Dallas, Texas. Robert then moved to Austin, Texas where he was employed by International Business Machines. From July of 1974 to October of 1981, Robert was involved in the design and development of word processing systems at I. B. M. In October of 1981, Robert transferred to marketing with I. B. M. and has held various marketing and service positions since that time. In October of 1981, Robert moved to Carrollton, Texas and then to Dallas, Texas in June of 1984 where he was supporting the marketing of I. B. M. data processing systems. In October of 1989, Robert and Diane Casey moved to Austin, Texas. As of 1999, Robert is approaching his 25th anniversary with I.B.M. and currently works for I. B. M. Robert has coached youth soccer for several years for both of his sons. Robert has also been an active leader in the genealogy community in Austin. Robert and Diane have also been active in Cub Scouts, serving as den leaders. As of 1999, Diane is currently the Den Leaders Coach for their schools Cub Scout Pack 59. Diane has also taught Vacation Bible School for several years at Riverbend Church in Austin and is active in their sons school activities. Robert is an active genealogist and has published four family histories. Robert and his father, Harold Casey, published the 200 page book, Casey Family History in 1980, Robert and his mother, Bernice (Brooks) Casey, published the 400 page book, Brooks Family History in 1982, Robert and his father, Harold Casey, published the 864 page book, Shelton, Wininger and Pace Families in 1988 and Robert and his mother, Bernice (Brooks) Casey, published the 408 page book, Olliff Family History, in 1992.
