WILLIAM BARKER SHELTON (1.2.4.1) is the son of David Shelton and Irene (Epperson) Shelton.  William was born on May 5, 1860 in Scott County, Virginia.  On January 7, 1880, William Shelton married Rebecca Jane Hackney in Scott County, Virginia.  Rebecca was born on November 1, 1860 in Virginia and is the daughter of George Hackney and Catherine (Gilmer) Hackney.  William and Rebecca Shelton were the parents of twelve children:

Shelton was living in Hunt County, Texas.  William Barker Shelton was a school teacher, Methodist minister and a farmer.  William Shelton died on December 2, 1942 in Merit, Texas and Rebecca (Hackney) Shelton died on January 2, 1943 in Merit, Texas.  Both were buried in Merit, Texas.

On August 1, 1909, Henry Shelton married Hattie Alice Moore.  Henry and Hattie Shelton lived in Merit, Texas.  Hattie (Moore) Shelton died on June 23, 1914 and Henry Shelton died on October 23, 1923.  Sallie Shelton never married.  Sallie Kate Shelton died on December 9, 1981 in Fredericksburg, Texas.  Pattie Bell Shelton died as an infant in August of 1891.  David Johnson Shelton died as an infant on November 22, 1893 in Merit, Texas.

JOHN WOLFE SHELTON (1.2.4.1.2) is the son of William Barker Shelton and Rebecca Jane (Hackney) Shelton.  John was born on January 11, 1882 in Gate City, Virginia.  On February 7, 1907, John Shelton married Estella Mae Clapp (born February 10, 1887 in Virginia).  John and Stella Shelton were the parents of six children:

May 17, 1952.  On August 6, 1977, Tom Shelton married Brenda Kay Beach.  On August 23, 1975, Jerry Shelton married Darla Rhodes and they are the parents of one son:  -  Russ Michael Shelton, b. On December 13, 1939, Thomas Shelton married Nellie Pearl Becknell in Farmersville, Texas.  Nellie was born on October 19, 1919 and is the daughter of Wallace Becknell and Melinda Becknell.  Thomas and Nellie Shelton are the parents of two children:  -  James Loyd Shelton, b. April 22, 1958.  Kyle was adopted on June 17, 1957.  On June 17, 1978, Kyle Shelton married Denise Glanville and they have one son:  -  Dereck Hunter Shelton, b. LAWRENCE HOLMAN BROTHERTON (1.2.4.1.5.1) is the son of Holman Atlee Brotherton and Beauna Ann (Shelton) Brotherton.  Larry was born on September 10, 1911 in Merit, Texas.  Larry graduated in 1934 from West Texas State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and in 1939 with a Master of Arts degree in School Administration.  He served as an athletic coach and school administrator in the Panhandle of Texas for forty-five years.  He retired in Canyon, Texas in 1978.  On October 5, 1935, Larry Brotherton married Esther Root in Raton, New Mexico.  Esther was born on December 31, 1910 in Canyon, Texas and is the daughter of Norris E. Root and Olive (Hoyt) Root.  Larry and Esther Brotherton were the parents of five children:

  Betty Jane Brotherton, b. November 9, 1938, Canyon, Texas

MAURETTA BROTHERTON (1.2.4.1.5.2) is the daughter of Holman Atlee Brotherton and Beauana Ann (Shelton) Brotherton.  Mauretta was born June 9, 1913 in Merit, Texas.  On July 21, 1934, Mauretta Brotherton married Vincent E. Kunkel.  Vincent was born on May 8, 1914 in Graham, Texas and is the son of Henry E. Kunkel and Lula (Morland) Kunkel.  He was an oil field operator who improved production from oil leases.  Vincent and Mauretta Kunkel were the parents of two children:

Vincent Kunkel died on October 14, 1975.  Mauretta married a second time to Jeff J. Meek.  They have a hobby of collecting and restoring dolls from all over the world and have over 500 dolls in their collection.  As of 1986, Jeff and Mauretta Meek live in Graham, Texas.

On February 1, 1958, Mary Kunkel married Gerald Mills.  Gerald was born on December 8, 1933 in Dallas, Texas and is the son of John Mills and Mollie Mills of Olney, Texas.  Gerald and Mary lived in San Antonio, Texas.  Mary taught school for twenty years.  Gerald was a color television repairman.  Gerald and Mary Mills are the parents of one son:  -  Kevin Brent Mills, b. June 20, 1964.  Kevin is in the military service in Germany.  Mary (Kunkel) Mills died on May 4, 1982 and was buried in San Antonio, Texas.  On December 20, 1983, Gerald Mills married a second time to Helen Grace Haire (born May 28, 1937) in Jacksboro, Texas and they live in San Antonio, Texas.  Helen Grace (Haire) Mills and Linda Gene (Haire) Kunkel are sisters and lived in Graham, Texas.

Elmer Kunkel married Linda Gene Haire (born December 31, 1939 in Jacksboro, Texas).  Elmer and Linda Kunkel are the parents of three children:  -  Ralph Kyle Kunkel, b. July 21, 1960,  -  Kelly Ray Kunkel, b. June 26, 1962,  -  Michael Drew Kunkel, b. HENRY FLOURNOY BROTHERTON (1.2.4.1.5.4) is the son of Holman Atlee Brotherton and Beauna Ann (Shelton) Brotherton.  Hank was born on November 23, 1916 in Merit, Texas and lived in the Lockney, Texas area.  Hank was a varsity football player at Oklahoma State University and graduated in 1948.  Hank taught school and coached at Dalhart and Gruver, Texas.  In World War II, Hank joined the Naval Air Corps at Pensacola, Florida.  Hank served as an instructor, then was sent overseas as a Navy pilot and was with Air Group 27 serving on the Carrier Princeton.  When the Princeton was hit by a bomb in Leyte Gulf in 1944, they regrouped in the states and served aboard the Aircraft Carrier Langley until the war ended.  On March 20, 1943, Hank Brotherton married Margaret Elizabeth Garmany.  Margaret was born on August 4, 1924 in Newburgh, New York and is the daughter of W. P. Garmany and M. E. (Betts) Garmany.  Hank and Margaret Brotherton are the parents of three children:

  David Henry Brotherton, b. December 21, 1946, Pensacola, Florida

Hank worked for the Holly Sugar and Adolph Coors Company in Alamosa, Colorado.  He then went into construction in Colorado Springs and was an interior trim man.  As of 1986, Hank is retired and lives in Penrose, Colorado.  In July of 1964, Peggy Brotherton married John P. Mahon.  In June of 1970, David Brotherton married Marilyn Johnson.  In 1977, Sherie Brotherton married Frank Robinson.

MARVIN GIBSON BROTHERTON (1.2.4.1.5.5) is the son of Holman Atlee Brotherton and Beauna Ann (Shelton) Brotherton.  Marvin was born on October 20, 1918 in Lockney, Texas.  Marvin graduated from Lockney, Texas High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Science degree in agriculture from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma.  Marvin was a member of the Oklahoma State University varsity football squad.  He served in the United States Air Force from 1942 to 1945 in Chico, California.  He also served during the Korean War from 1949 to 1951.  On June 1, 1942, Marvin Brotherton married Viola Mae Cox.  Viola was born on July 11, 1918 in Chandler, Oklahoma and is the daughter of Archie Edwin Cox and Mamie Pheobe (Lillibridge) Cox.  Viola received her Bachelor of Science degree and Master of Science degree in Home Economics from Oklahoma State University.  Marvin and Viola Brotherton presently live in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  Marvin and Viola Brotherton are the parents of two children:

Bruce Brotherton received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Oklahoma City University, did advanced work at Candler School of Theology in Atlanta, Georgia and received a Master of Theology from Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma.  Bruce is a Methodist Minister of the Oklahoma Conference.  On May 20, 1977, Bruce Brotherton married Teressa Tracy Victoria (Burch) Toepfer.  Tracy was born on July 24, 1947 in Hutchinson, Kansas and is the daughter of Lawrence Edwin Burch and Vada May (Clark) Burch.  Tracy was named Nancy Ann Burch at birth, but her name was legally changed in October of 1970 to Teressa Victoria.  Tracy was previously married in July of 1967 to Steven Arnold Toepfer and they were the parents of one son:  Conrad Stefan Toepfer (born August 7, 1968).  On July 7, 1980, Bruce adopted Conrad at Bartlesville, Oklahoma.  In May of 1983, Tracy received a Bachelors degree in Business Administration from Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma.

Debbie Brotherton attended Oklahoma State University and the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma.  Debbie majored in Education of the Deaf and Hearing Impaired.  At the age of four, Debbie had measles that impaired her hearing to some degree.  Debbie is presently employed at the main branch of the Tulsa City-County Library in the Circulation Department.  She interprets for the deaf who need that service to use the library.

HOLMAN ATLEE BROTHERTON, JR. (1.2.4.1.5.6) is the son of Holman Atlee Brotherton, Sr. and Beauna Ann (Shelton) Brotherton.  H. A. was born on October 23, 1920 in Lockney, Texas.  H. A. Brotherton, Jr. was a career Army Officer.  He attained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel before his retirement in 1963.  He was a graduate of Oklahoma State University where he received many honors in athletics (especially in football and track).  On November 14, 1943, H. A. Brotherton, Jr. married Joan Emily Butcher in Yuma, Arizona.  Joan is the daughter of Odd Grover Butcher and Emily (Geppelt) Butcher.  H. A. and Joan Brotherton were the parents of two children:

  James Douglas Brotherton, b. November 12, 1944, Tulsa, Oklahoma
  Katherine Ann Brotherton, b. September 13, 1947, Little Rock, Arkansas

H. A. and Joan Brotherton lived in San Antonio, Texas.  Holman Atlee Brotherton, Jr. died on July 11, 1975 and was buried in the Fort Sam Houston Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.  Joan (Butcher) Brotherton married a second time to Robert McVey.  Jim Brotherton attended the University of Texas on a Scholarship and graduated in 1966.  Jim is a career Naval Officer and is currently the Captain of the U. S. S. Whipple out of Pearl Harbor.  In June of 1969, Jim Brotherton married Nancy Fry.  Jim and Nancy Brotherton are the parents of two children:  -  Melissa Brotherton, b. ROBERT BASCOM BROTHERTON (1.2.4.1.5.7) is the son of Holman Atlee Brotherton and Beauna Ann (Shelton) Brotherton.  Robert was born on May 3, 1923 in Lockney, Texas.  Robert graduated from Lockney, Texas High School, attended Texas Tech University and graduated from West Texas University in 1948.  He served in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946.  He served on the U. S. S. Omaha, a light cruiser and the U. S. S. Driller, a tanker.  Robert worked for the Pioneer Natural Gas Company Corporation from 1951 to 1986 when he retired.  He was a supervisor in the gas measurement department.  On May 24, 1947, Robert Brotherton married Wynema Louise Robbins in Lockney, Texas.  Wynema was born on August 27, 1926 in Canyon, Texas and is the daughter of Qvilla Rhea Robbins and Jeanette Louise (Green) Robbins.  Robert and Wynema Brotherton are the parents of three children:

Boren and Leona (Martin) Boren.  Alva and Martha Jo Boren were the parents of three children:

INELL BROTHERTON (1.2.4.1.5.9) is the daughter of Holman Atlee Brotherton and Beauna Ann (Shelton) Brotherton.  Inell was born on February 7, 1928 in Lockney, Texas.  On May 24, 1950, Inell Brotherton married Claud R. Zevely.  Claud was born on July 6, 1923 and is the son of Forest Larkin Zevely and Mary Ellen (Blythe) Zevely.  Claud and Inell Zevely are the parents of two children:

  Zackary Kent Zevely, b. January 25, 1954, Pampa, Texas

Claud Zevely was a Pharmacist Mate First Class in the Navy during World War II.  He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from East Central State University in Ada, Oklahoma and a Masters of Education from West Texas State University at Canyon, Texas.  Claud did graduate work at the University of Colorado and George Peabody at Nashville, Tennessee.  Claud was a school teacher for 37 years before retiring.  The last 17 years of his teaching career was as an Associate Professor in the Education Department at West Texas State University.  Inell (Brotherton) Zevely is a school teacher.  She received her Bachelors degree and Masters degree from West Texas State University.  Inell has taught second, third and fourth grades and is now teaching her thirty-sixth year.  Claud and Inell Zevely live in Amarillo, Texas.

On February 17, 1979, Daniel Zevely married Linda Joy Hill.  Linda is the daughter of Billy Ross Hill and Evelyn Maxine (Walter) Hill.  Daniel and Linda Zevely are the parents of two children:  -  Sean Holman Zevely, b. GUSSIE MAY SHELTON (1.2.4.1.8) is the daughter of William Barker Shelton and Rebecca Jane (Hackney) Shelton.  Gussie was born on April 14, 1895 in Merit, Texas.  On April 14, 1928, Gussie Mae Shelton married Augustus Eugene Graham in Greenville, Texas.  Gus was born May 14, 1893 in Courtland, Alabama and is the son of Eugene Augustus Graham and Hannah Parlesa (Bonds) Graham.  Gus and Gussie Graham were the parents of two children:

Retha (Brashear) Shelton died.  On November 6, 1945, Lee Shelton married a second time to Gertrude Fields in Scott County, Virginia.  Gertrude was born in 1911 in Scott County, Virginia and is the daughter of W. Bartley Fields and Victoria (Vicars) Fields.  Gertrude’s sister, Hazel Fields, married Lee Shelton’s first cousin, Alex N. Shelton (1.2.4.7.7).  Lee and Gertrude were the parents of at least one daughter:

Lee Shelton died on February 18, 1966 and was buried in the Holston View Cemetery in Scott County, Virginia.

NELLE JO SHELTON (1.2.4.1.10) is the daughter of William Barker Shelton and Rebecca Jane (Hackney) Shelton.  Nell was born on March 2, 1900 in Floyd, Texas.  On August 11, 1918, Nelle Shelton married Lester Eldon Griffin (born September 27, 1899).  Lester and Nelle Griffin lived in in Hunt County, Texas until 1928 when they moved to Henryetta, Oklahoma.  L. E. and Nelle Griffin were the parents of four children:

May 21, 1969, Cypress, California.  Brenda Kay Shelton married Paul Bechthold.  Paul and Brenda Kay Bechthold are the parents of two children:  -  Michael Bechthold, b. June 1, 1967, Buena Park, California,  -  Vickie Bechthold, b. March 25, 1970, Saint Louis Park, Minnesota.  Paul and Brenda Bechthold were divorced.
