SAMUEL MARTIN SHELTON (1.5.10) is the son of William Shelton and Martha (Pace) Shelton.  Samuel was born in September of 1851 in Alabama.  On September 15, 1873, Samuel Shelton married Sarah Caledonia “Callie” Floyd in Jackson County, Alabama.  Sarah was born on December 9, 1853 in Alabama and is the daughter of David M. Floyd (born 1823, Tennessee) and Susan Floyd (born 1824, North Carolina).  Sarahs brother, Hughes Floyd, married Mary Ellen Sims (1.5.6.2).  Samuel and Sarah Shelton were the parents of at least eight children:

From 1880 to 1920, Samuel and Sarah Shelton were living in Jackson County, Alabama.  In 1910, several of Samuel and Sarah Sheltons children were living with them:  Susan, Mary, Matilda, Alice, Rhoda, Eva, Thomas and Samora.  Samuel Shelton died in 1924 in Jackson County, Alabama.  In 1928, Sarah (Floyd) Shelton was still living in Jackson County, Alabama.  Sarah (Floyd) Shelton died on April 27, 1934.  Susan Shelton married a Mr. Higginbotham and she was living in Sequatchie, Tennessee in 1928.  Rhoda Shelton married J. W. Himes and they lived in Larkinsville, Alabama in 1928.  The Himes had no children but in 1924, they adopted Laura Levine Gentle, daughter of Solomon Gentle (32.3.10.5) and Alice Bell (Shelton) Gentle (1.5.10.4), Rhodas sister.

Eva Shelton married Elmer Garner.  Eva Shelton married second time to a Mr. Akins and was living in Stevenson, Alabama in 1928.  Josie Shelton married a Mr. Garner.  Josie Shelton later married a Mr. Stephens and was living in Fort Payne, Alabama in 1928.

MARY L. SHELTON (1.5.10.2) is the daughter of Samuel Martin Shelton and Sarah Callie (Floyd) Shelton.  Mary was born in 1876 in Jackson County, Alabama.  On May 19, 1895, Mary Mollie Shelton married James Sheridan West.  James is the son of John Kimsey West and Amanda Caroline (Seabolt) West.  James father, John Kimsey West, married a second time to Sarah Malinda Shelton (1.5.12).  James West was previously married.  James and Mollie West had at least two children:

After Mollie died, James West married a third time and had three more children:  Minnie A. West, Samuel Kimsey West and Ted West.  In 1928, Kimsey West was living in Huntsville, Alabama.  Minnie West married Jess Hall and they had one daughter:  -  Minnie Hall, b. 1914.  Minnie (West) Hall died prior to 1928.  In 1928, Minnie Hall was living with her father in Huntsville, Alabama.

ALICE BELL SHELTON (1.5.10.4) is the daughter of Samuel Martin Shelton and Sarah Callie (Floyd) Shelton.  Mary was born on April 23, 1882 in Jackson County, Alabama.  On March 17, 1898, Alice Shelton married James Wilborn “Jim” McAllister at Lim Rock, Alabama and they had one son:

Jim McAllister died and Alice married a second time to Solomon Gentle.  For additional information on the descendants of Solomon and Alice Bell Gentle, see the sketch of Solomon Gentle (32.3.10.5).  In 1928, Andrew McAllister lived in Woodville, Alabama.

ANDREW MARTIN McALLISTER (1.5.10.4.1) is the son of James Wilborn McAllister and Alice Bell (Shelton) McAllister.  Andrew was born on September 24, 1900.  Andrew McAllister married Ethel Wooten (born October 2, 1908) and they had one child (born April, 1920).  Both Ethel and the child died.  On February 23, 1929, Andrew McAllister married a second time to Vernie Beatric Woods (born June 7, 1910) in Huntsville, Alabama and they had three children:

  Betty Sue McAllister, b. June 6, 1939

Andrew Martin McAllister died on February 16, 1970.  On June 21, 1948, Leon McAllister married Elizabeth Hall and they have one son:  -  Leon James McAllister, b. October 29, 1951.  On March 24, 1954, James Winston McAllister married Betty Ruth Williams (born May 7, 1937) and they have one son:  -  Jimmy Dale McAllister, b. January 10, 1959 (adopted).  On August 17, 1976, Jimmy McAllister married Tonia Lynn McClure (born April 7, 1959) and they have two children:  -  Jennifer Lynn McAllister, b. THOMAS RILEY SHELTON (1.5.10.7) is the son of Samuel Martin Shelton and Sarah Callie (Floyd) Shelton.  Thomas was born on July 25, 1888 at Letcher, Jackson County, Alabama.  On January 21, 1906, Thomas Riley Shelton married Eliza Gold (32.3.9.9) in Jackson County, Alabama.  Eliza was born in May of 1890 in Alabama and is the daughter of Elijah Phillips Gold and Frances (Wininger) Gold.  Riley and Eliza Shelton were the parents of at least eight children:

In 1910, Riley and Eliza Shelton were living in Jackson County, Alabama.  Eliza (Gold) Shelton died on October 9, 1966 and Thomas R. Shelton died on September 1, 1969.  Both were buried in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Huntsville, Alabama.  On February 28, 1939, Claude Shelton married Gladys Mabel Johnson (1.5.6.3.3).  Gladys was born on December 4, 1906 in Alabama and is the daughter of Henry J. Johnson and Martha E. (Sims) Johnson.  Claude and Gladys Shelton had no children.  Claude Shelton died on March 10, 1980 and was buried in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Huntsville, Alabama.  Stella Mable Shelton never married.  Stella Shelton died on December 1, 1928 and was buried in the Gold Cemetery in Jackson County, Alabama.  Howard Shelton married Lena Lewis in Huntsville, Alabama and they have one son:  -  Jackie Shelton.

On May 30, 1942, Floyd Shelton married Helen Maud Maynor (32.3.11.5.1.2) in Huntsville, Alabama.  Helen is the daughter of Cecil Maynor and Margaret (Potter) Maynor.  Floyd and Helen are the parents of two children:  -  Floyd Wayne Shelton,  -  Ricky Lynn Shelton.  Helen retired from the Woolworth Company after working there twenty-two years.  On January 11, 1969, Floyd Wayne Shelton married Cynthia Cindy Williams in Huntsville, Alabama and they have one son:  -  Lee Edward Shelton, b. July 19, 1974.  On June 22, 1973, Ricky Shelton married Nancy Lyn Barkley and they have one daughter:  -  Christy Shelton, b. April 15, 1978.  On April 15, 1956, Velma Shelton married Mansfield Johnson in Iuka, Mississippi and they have one daughter:  -  Hazel Johnson.

CLARENCE SHELTON (1.5.10.7.1) is the son of Thomas Riley Shelton and Eliza (Gold) Shelton.  Clarence was born in 1907 in Jackson County, Alabama.  On January 3, 1925, Clarence Shelton married Ethel Webb in Huntsville, Alabama.  Clarence and Ethel Shelton were the parents of three children:

PANSY SHELTON (1.5.10.7.5) is the daughter of Thomas Riley Shelton and Eliza (Gold) Shelton.  Pansy was born on January 21, 1904.  On September 21, 1933, Pansy Shelton married Herman Cleve Busey in Huntsville, Alabama.  Cleve was born on June 30, 1911 in Murpheesboro, Tennessee and is the son of William Josh Busey and Tennessee L. (Harris) Busey.  Cleve and Pansy Busey were the parents of two daughters:

  Doris Launa Busey (1.5.10.7.5.2), b. December 26, 1935

Cleve and Pancy Busey were later divorced.  Cleve Busey died on December 1, 1975 in Huntsville, Alabama and was buried there in the Maple Hill Cemetery.  On November 10, 1938, Pansy Shelton married a second time to Brooks Bell in Huntsville, Alabama.  Brooks was born on September 14, 1909.  Brooks and Pansy Bell were the parents of one daughter:

Pansy (Shelton) Bell died on December 1, 1975 in Huntsville, Alabama and Brooks Bell died on March 13, 1989 in Huntsville, Alabama.  Both were buried in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Huntsville, Alabama.  On December 14, 1932, Stella Busey married Robert Spray and they two children:  -  Mark Spray, b. September 21, 1959,  -  Janice Spray, b. NOAH BENTON SHELTON (1.5.11) is the son of William Shelton and Martha (Pace) Shelton.  Noah was born on January 6, 1854 in Alabama.  On February 13, 1876, Noah Shelton married Mary Eliza Potter (15.1.2.1).  Mary was born June 13, 1858 in Alabama and is the daughter of William Potter and Ruth Adeline (Morris) Potter.  Noah and Mary Shelton were the parents of at least ten children:

From 1880 to 1910, Noah and Mary Shelton were living in Jackson County, Alabama.  In 1880, Noah was living with his mother, Martha (Pace) Shelton, and his brother, James W. Shelton (1.5.13).  In 1900, Noahs mother, Martha (Pace) Shelton was living with Noah.  In 1910, several of Noah and Mary Sheltons children were still living with them:  William, Ben, Jonathan, Dora and Mamie.  Noah and Mary lived all their married lives in the same house that Noahs parents lived in.  Mary (Potter) Shelton died on March 23, 1938 and Noah Benton Shelton died on October 19, 1940.  Both were buried in the Blue Spring Cove (Hall) Cemetery near Larkinsville, Alabama.  Dora Ann Shelton married Manoah Arthur Hall.  For additional information on the descendants of Manoah and Dora Hall, see the sketch of Manoah Arthur Hall (15.5.1.10).

WILLIAM RILEY SHELTON (1.5.11.1) is the son of Noah Benton Shelton and Mary Eliza (Potter) Shelton.  William was born on January 16, 1877 in Alabama.  William Shelton married Annie Selby and they had two children:

William Shelton married a second time in Texas to Mollie (Tuttle) Rowe.  Mollie had one son by her first marriage:  Chloe Rowe.  William and Mollie Shelton had three children:

Weldon Shelton married Ida Venora McKee and they have three children:  -  Weldon Riley Shelton, Jr.,  -  Lalen Tuttle Shelton,  -  Ida Venora Shelton.  Weldon Shelton, Jr. and his wife, Brenda, have four children:  -  Julian Shelton,  -  Weldon Riley Shelton, III,  -  Sean Shelton (twin),  -  Noel Shelton (twin).  Weldon Shelton, Jr. lives in Houston, Texas.  Lalen Shelton was killed in 1957 on his way to his Navy base.  Ida Shelton married Neil Polk and they live in Houston, Texas.  Neil and Ida Polk have three children:  -  Kimberly Polk (twin),  -  Kelly Polk (twin),  -  Shelane Polk.

On August 18, 1933, Laura Shelton married Jimmie Flynn in Muskogee, Oklahoma.  Jimmie and Laura Flynn have three children:  -  Jimmy Bo Flynn, Jr., b. February 5, 1935,  -  Beverley Flynn, b. December 6, 1940,  -  Jaye Howard Flynn, b. July 10, 1953, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  Jimmy Flynn, Jr. married Lynn (Spriser) Johnson and they have one adopted son:  -  Le Roy Flynn.  Lynn was previously married and had three children:  Ralph Johnson, Barbra Johnson and Brenda Johnson.  Beverley Flynn first married Marchen Morgan.  Beverley married a second time to Floyd Ryan and third time to Julious Huchen.  Beverley has three children:  Curtis, Jimmy and Ryan.  Jaye Flynn married Cindy Sue Stem and they have one child:  -  Jason Jay Flynn, Jr.

Jaye Shelton married Tommie L. Ferguson and they have three children:  -  Jay Lene Shelton,  -  Charlotte Sue Shelton,  -  Jaye Marshall Shelton, Jr.  Jay Lene Shelton married Josh Mathews in Fort Worth, Texas and they have one son:  -  Josh Dean Mathews.  Charlotte is not married and lives in Fort Worth, Texas.  Jaye Shelton, Jr. married Claudie Magers and lives in Texas.  Jaye and Claudie have no children.

RUTHA MATILDA SHELTON (1.5.11.2) is the daughter of Noah Benton Shelton and Mary Eliza (Potter) Shelton.  Matilda was born on April 27, 1879 in Alabama.  On November 16, 1907, Matilda Shelton married Jesse Benjamin Isbell in Limrock, Alabama.  Jesse was born on December 2, 1879 in Limrock, Alabama and is the son of Jesse William Isbell and Lockey Tom (Barclay) Isbell.  Jesse and Matilda Isbell were the parents of at least two children:

  Robert Isbell, b. 1911
  Hugh Miller Isbell, b. January, 1919

Jesse and Matilda Isbell lived around Lim Rock, Alabama.  Matilda (Shelton) Isbell died on October 1, 1958 and Jesse Isbell died on February 12, 1960 in Scottsboro, Alabama.  Both were buried in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Scottsboro, Alabama.  Robert Isbell married Isabelle Bell Miller and they have five children:  -  Betty Jean Isbell,  -  Savannah Isbell,  -  Samuel Isbell,  -  Sharon Ann Isbell,  -  Edward H. JAMES ELDRIDGE SHELTON (1.5.11.3) is the son of Noah Benton Shelton and Mary Eliza (Potter) Shelton.  Eldridge was born on March 6, 1881 in Alabama.  On January 3, 1905, Eldridge Shelton married Mary Belle Dean (born 1884 in Alabama) in Jackson County, Alabama.  Belles sister, Eliza, married James brother, Blane.  Eldridge and Belle Shelton were the parents of four children:

  M. Myrtle Shelton, b. 1907, Texas
  James Shelton, b. 1916, Montague County, Texas
  Ruth Shelton, b. 1918, Montague County, Texas
  Emma Shelton, b. 1919, Montague County, Texas

From 1910 to 1920, James and Belle Shelton were living in Montague County, Texas.  James Eldridge Shelton died in 1938.  Eldridge and Belle Shelton both died and were buried in Texas.  All of Eldridge and Belle Sheltons children lived in Texas.  James Shelton had four children.  Myrtle Shelton married a Mr. Gates but they had no children.  Ruth Shelton married a Mr. Ewan and they had two children.  Emma Shelton married a Mr. Walthall and they had four children.

LUCY JANE SHELTON (1.5.11.4) is the daughter of Noah Benton Shelton and Mary Eliza (Potter) Shelton.  Lucy was born on March 20, 1883 in Alabama.  Lucy Shelton married Paul McCormack and they were the parents of five children:

  Beth McCormack, b. July 31, 1921

Lucy (Shelton) McCormack died in November of 1931 or 1932.  Lucy was buried in an unmarked grave next her brother Charlie in the Blue Spring Cove (Hall) Cemetery.  Archie McCormack died of diptheria as an infant and was buried in Lim Rock, Alabama.  Hurbert McCormack married Cleo Busey and they had two children:  -  Paul Edward McCormack,  -  Hilda McCormack.  Hubert McCormack suffered from Brights disease and died in August of 1944 and was buried in the Blue Spring Cove (Hall) Cemetery.  Several years after Hurbert’s death, Cleo married a second time to Nelson Baker and she lives in Huntsville, Alabama.  Paul McCormack served in the Korean war and never married.  Hilda McCormack lives in California with her second husband and she has children.

Blanche McCormack married a Mr. White and they have two children:  -  Jerry White,  -  Bebe White.  Jerry White never married and died young of a heart attack.  Jerry White was buried in the White Cemetery in Whitwell, Tennessee.  Bebe White married a Mr. Winterburg and they have two daughters:  -  Julia Winterburg,  -  Jill Winterburg.  The Winterburgs live in Arizona.  Blanche (McCormack) White died of cancer on January 11, 1971 and was buried in the White Cemetery in Whitwell, Tennessee.

Ralph McCormack was reared by his grandparents after his father died.  Ralph served in the United States Navy.  Ralph McCormack married Louise Alexandria and they have two sons:  -  Gary Ralph McCormack, b. April 10, 1947,  -  David McCormack, b. November 1, 1951.  Ralph McCormack, Sr. lives in Cleveland, Tennessee.  Gary McCormack and his wife, Irmeel, have one daughter:  -  Johanna McCormack, b. November 9, 1971.  David McCormack is not married and is in the United States Air Force.

Beth McCormack was reared by her grandparents, Noah and Eliza Shelton, after her father died.  Around 1943, Beth McCormack married Johnny Gantt of Florida.  During World War II, Beth married and moved away with her husband.  She lived in Boston, Massachusetts, Columbus, Georgia and Texas.

DAVID CHARLES SHELTON (1.5.11.5) is the son of Noah Benton Shelton and Mary Eliza (Potter) Shelton.  Charlie was born on December 31, 1884 in Alabama.  Charlie Shelton married Senia Selby (born 1885).  Senia’s sister, Annie Selby, married David’s brother, William Shelton.  Charlie and Senia Shelton were the parents of at least three children:

In 1910, Charlie and “Cinnie” Shelton were living in Jackson County, Alabama.  Charlie and Senia Shelton lived in Texas and later in Centralia, Illinois.  Charlie Shelton died on August 4, 1928 from a gunshot wound suffered in Birmingham, Alabama.  David Charles Shelton was buried in the Blue Spring Cove (Hall) Cemetery.  Senia (Selby) Shelton was buried in Centralia, Illinois.  Ernest Shelton was a school teacher and has a family.  Virgil Shelton and his wife, Ruby, have no children.  Virgil worked in the oil fields and lives in Centralia, Illinois.  Clarence Shelton married and has three children:  -  Virginia Shelton,  -  Richard Shelton,  -  Larry Shelton.  Clarence Shelton lives in Ocean Springs, Mississippi.

MARGARET ELIZABETH SHELTON (1.5.11.6) is the daughter of Noah Benton Shelton and Mary Eliza (Potter) Shelton.  Margaret was born on March 10, 1887 in Jackson County, Alabama.  Margaret Shelton married John Davis Berry.  John and Margaret Berry were the parents of six children:

John Berry died on May 28, 1959 and was buried in the Union Cemetery at Woodville, Alabama.  Margaret married a second time to Lewis McCormack, both were over 75 years old at the time.  Lewis brother, Paul McCormack, married Margarets sister, Lucy Shelton.  Lewis McCormacks first wife, Bessie, was the sister of John Berry, Margarets first husband.  Lewis McCormack died on January 17, 1971 and was buried next to his first wife, Bessie (Berry) McCormack, in Scottsboro, Alabama.  Margaret (Shelton) Berry McCormack last lived in Fort Payne, Alabama and died only two weeks before her one hundredth birthday.  Margaret died in late February of 1987 and was buried next to first husband in the Union Cemetery near Woodville, Alabama.

Oleane Berry married Clarence Harrison and they had two children:  -  Betty Harrison,  -  Sonny Harrison.  Olean died of cancer and was buried in the Paint Rock, Alabama Cemetery.  After Oleans death, Clarence married again.  Betty Harrison married but had no children.  Her husband died.  Sonny Harrison married and has two children.  Noah William Bill Berry married Zada Chambless and they had one son:  -  Billy Ray Berry.  Noah William Berry died on February 23, 1974 at Harriman, Tennessee from a gun shot wound and was buried in the Union Cemetery at Woodville, Alabama.  Billy Ray Berry married and had two sons.  Billy Ray Berry was killed in a car accident and was buried in the Union Cemetery at Woodville, Alabama.  John Daniel “J. BENJAMIN BENTON SHELTON (1.5.11.7) is the son of Noah Benton Shelton and Mary Eliza (Potter) Shelton.  Ben was born on October 6, 1888 in Jackson County, Alabama.  On May 7, 1911, Ben Shelton married Anna A. Hall (15.3.8.9) in Jackson County, Alabama.  Anna was born on January 19, 1895 in Alabama and is the daughter of John Benton Hall and Adeline Elizabeth (Allen) Hall.  Ben and Anna Shelton were the parents of three children:

  Louise Shelton, b. 1915, Alabama
  Leon Shelton, b. 1916, Alabama

In 1920, Ben and Anna Shelton were living in Jackson County, Alabama.  Ben and Anna Shelton were later divorced and Annie lives in Chattanooga, Tennessee.  On October 1, 1942, Ben Shelton married a second time to Tommie Roberts (a childhood sweetheart) and they had no children.  Tommie (Roberts) Shelton died of cancer about two years after she and Ben were married.  Tommie (Roberts) Shelton was buried in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Huntsville, Alabama.  Ben Shelton married a third time to Tola B. Austin.  Tola was previously married to Jasper Austin and they had seven children.  Ben and Tola Shelton had no children.  Ben Shelton died on April 2, 1974 and was buried at Flat Rock, Alabama.  Tola (Austin) Shelton died on July 3, 1975 and was buried next to Ben Shelton.

Howard Shelton and his wife, Blanche, had one son:  -  Ray Shelton.  Louise Shelton married S. Windall Lydia and had one daughter:  -  Mary Ann Lydia.  Mary Ann Lydia married Curtis Hughs and they have two sons.  Leon Shelton married Bullah Chambless and they have two daughters:  -  Sandra Shelton,  -  Candice Shelton.  Leon Shelton died of the Hong Kong flu on January 23, 1969 and was buried in the Pine Haven Cemetery in Scottsboro, Alabama.  Sandra Shelton married L. Dean in Jackson County, Alabama.  Eliza was born in 1889 and is the daughter of Tom Dean.  Eliza’s sister, Belle Dean, married Blane’s brother, Eldridge Shelton.  Blane and Eliza Shelton were the parents of five children:

Blane Shelton died of pneumonia around 1928 or 1929 and was buried in Flint, Michigan.  Eliza married a second time to a Mr. DeLong.  Eliza (Dean) DeLong died in 1964 and was buried next to her husband in Flint, Michigan.  Harland Shelton lives in Nashville, Tennessee.  Helen Shelton married Wayne Hunt of Flint, Michigan and they have four children:  -  Nancy Sue Hunt,  -  Beverly Hunt,  -  William Hunt,  -  Wayne Hunt, Jr.  Nancy Hunt married a Mr. Reid and they had two sons:  -  Charles Dumene Reid,  -  Matthew Allen Reid.  Nancy was killed in auto accident on January 19, 1959 when only twenty years old.  Beverly Hunt married a Mr. Carr and lives in Flint, Michigan.  William Hunt lives in California.  Wayne Hunt, Jr. lives in Michigan.
