RANDOLPH CASEY (8.3)

Most of the descendants of Randolph Casey lived in Illinois while many descendants also lived in Arkansas, Missouri and Tennessee.  This section is included in order distinguish this Casey line as well as sort out the various Casey lines to better understand how many Casey lines that originated from Tennessee.  It is believed that this Randolph Casey that lived in Smith County, Tennessee and died there.  The descendants of Randolph Casey are probably the most well documented (and famous) Casey line that once lived in Tennessee.  This line was first documented in a manuscript written in 1876 by Lewis F. Casey, was covered in the book, “History of Jefferson County, Illinois,” by William Perrin in 1883, the 1876 manuscript by Lewis F. Casey was updated in 1931 by John S. Casey, covered in great detail Casey Family History, by George and Abner Casey in 1964, the Perrin sketches were updated and published again 1968 in the Mount Vernon, Illinois newspaper, “Register News,” in a series of newspaper articles entitled, Register News Sesquicentnnial Feature,  covered in “Casey and Allied Families,” by Walter Eric Casey in 1979 and covered briefly in the authors own book, “Casey Family History,” by Harold and Robert Casey in 1980.  Randolph Casey married Mary Jane Pennington and they were the parents of eight children:

ISAAC CASEY (8.3.3) is the son of Randolph Casey and Mary Jane (Pennington) Casey.  Isaac was born in 1765 in South Carolina.  Isaac Casey married Elizabeth Mackey and they were the parents of eight children:

HIRAM CASEY (8.3.6) is the son of Randolph Casey and Rachel Casey.  Hiram was born on March 23, 1790, Georgia.  Hiram Casey married Catherine DePriest and they were the parents of twelve children:

RANDOLPH DEPRIEST CASEY (8.3.6.1) is the son of Hiram Casey and Catherine (DePriest) Casey.  Randolph was born on March 10, 1810 in Smith County, Tennessee.  Randolph Casey married Gilla Dean and they were the parents of two children:

  Rebecca J. Casey

Gilla (Dean) Casey died in 1857.  Randolph Casey married a second time to Mrs. Cynthia Joiner.  Randolph and Cynthia Casey were the parents of three children:

  Randolph Depriest Casey, Jr.
  Samuel R. Casey

Randolph Casey, Sr. died on February 23, 1896 in Mountain Home, Arkansas.  In 1849, Catherine Casey married Milus Paul and they had three children:  -  Randolph Casey Paul,  -  James Leroy Paul,  -  Thomas Hicks Paul.

ZADOCK CASEY (8.3.8) is the son of Randolph Casey and Mary Jane (Pennington) Casey.  Zadock was born on March 7, 1796, Georgia.  Zadock Casey married Rachel King, daughter of Samuel King.  Zadock and Rachel Casey were the parents of at least one son:

SAMUEL KING CASEY (8.3.8.1) is the son of Zadock Casey and Rachel (King) Casey.  Samuel was born on June 27, 1817 in Smith County, Tennessee.  Samuel Casey married Julia Emily McCreery (born August 20, 1819) and they were the parents of five children:

JOHN JAY CASEY (8.3.8.1.5) is the son of Samuel King Casey and Julia Emily (McCreery) Casey.  John was born on November 8, 1851 in Benton, Illinois.  John Casey married Mary Jane Smith (born September 28, 1855) and they were the parents of five children:

  John Jay Casey, Jr., b. October 28, 1876, Franklin County, Illinois
  Samuel King Casey, II, b. June 4, 1880, Thompsonville, Illinois

  Homer Smith Casey, b. August 14, 1891, Arkansas

Samuel Casey, II married Lillian Barry (born November 29, 1882 in Benton, Arkansas) and they have seven children.

JOHN CASEY (8.4)

There is a reasonable possibility that John Casey (born 1782 in South Carolina) is related to the authors ancestor, Ambler Casey (born 1790).  Both were known to have resided in Roane County, Tennessee in the early 1800s.  This section is included in hope of some day proving a connection between these two Casey lines as well as sort out the various Casey lines to better understand how many Casey lines that originated from Roane County, Tennessee.

It is known that a John Casey (possible two men) resided in Roane County, Tennessee from 1807 to 1844.  For additional information on John Casey in Roane County, Tennessee, see the sketch of John Casey (8.4) in the section on Caseys of Roane County, Tennessee.

It is believed that the John Casey that lived in Roane County, Tennessee later moved to Greene County, Missouri.  In 1850, John Casey (born 1782 in South Carolina) and his wife, Anna Casey (born 1786 in South Carolina), were enumerated in the census of Greene County, Missouri.  In 1856, the will of John Casey was proven in Greene County, Missouri.  This will mentions Johns wife, Anna Casey, his daughter, Jane (Casey) Ellison, and son, Levi Casey.  Other children were implied in this will but were not named.  John and Anna Casey were parents of two children:

The Jane Casey mentioned is probably the Jane Casey that married Henson Ellison in Roane County, Tennessee in 1824.

LEVI CASEY (8.4.1) is the son of John Casey and Anna Casey.  Levi was born on April 23, 1805 in Roane County, Tennessee.  On February 4, 1830, Levi Casey married Polly Haggard in Roane County, Tennessee.  In 1840, Levi Casey was living in Taney County, Missouri.  He is listed with what appears to be his wife (born 1800 to 1810) and two sons (born 1830 to 1835).  The 1964 manuscript of the Casey family by George and Abner Casey lists Levi as the son of Abner and Elizabeth Casey.  The authors believe that the will of John Casey makes it very unlikely that this connection is correct.  However, many descendants of Levi and Polly Casey are listed in this 1964 manuscript and are included in this section in hope that this information is accurate.  Levi and Polly Casey were the parents of six children:

Levi Casey died on January 10, 1859 in Forsyth, Missouri and was buried there in the Casey Cemetery.  In 1860, Polly Casey (born 1803 in Georgia) was living in Taney County, Missouri.  Sarah Casey married Henry Laughlin in Taney County, Missouri.  On December 25, 1859, Amanda Casey married Andrew McHaffie in Taney County, Missouri.  Andrew and Amanda McHaffie had one son:  -  Leonard Harrison McHaffie, b. October 17, 1860, Christian County, Missouri.  Amanda (Casey) McHaffie died on December 13, 1917 and was buried in the McHaffie Cemetery in Bruner, Missouri.  On March 4, 1894, Leonard McHaffie married Ella Mayden (born March 17, 1873 in Sparta, Missouri) and they had one daughter:  -  Opal Lee McHaffie, b. December 25, 1897, Forsyth, Missouri.  Leonard McHaffied died on September 18, 1916 and Ella (Mayden) McHaffie died on November 10, 1939.  Both were buried in the McHaffie Cemetery in Bruner, Missouri.  On April 17, 1916, Opal McHaffie married Benjamin Albert Parnell.  Opal (McHaffie) Parnell died on August 20, 1983 and was buried in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Branson, Missouri.  In 1861, Belveretta Casey married Benjamin F. McKinney in Taney County, Missouri.

WILLIAM D. CASEY (8.4.1.2) is the son of Levi Casey and Polly (Haggard) Casey.  William was born on July 23, 1834 in Tennessee.  On October 12, 1854, William Casey married Missouri Catherine Cook.  William and Missouri Casey were the parents of nine children:

  Thomas Benton Casey, b. February 23, 1859, Taney County, Missouri

In 1860, William and Missouri Casey were living in Taney County, Missouri.  William Casey died on March 26, 1872 In Forsyth, Missouri and Missouri (Cook) Casey died on September 30, 1914.  Both were buried in the Casey Cemetery in Taney County, Missouri.  Calvin Casey married Mary Sims in Taneyville, Missouri and they had six children:  -  Rettie Casey,  -  William Casey,  -  Frank Casey,  -  Sallie Casey,  -  Cora Casey,  -  Dillie Casey.  Rettie Casey married Henry Smith.  William Casey married Audrey Morrisette and they lived in Shawnee, Oklahoma.  Frank Casey married and lives in Shawnee, Oklahoma.  Sallie Casey married William Cook and they live in Taneyville, Missouri.  Cora Casey married William Vandeventer and they live in Ozark, Missouri.  Dillie Casey married Claud Vandeventer and they live in Taneyville, Missouri.

Mary Casey married Martin May and they had one daughter:  -  Alberta May.  Martin May died in the 1890s.  Alberta May married Jim Hicks and they have three children:  -  Mabel Hicks,  -  William Hicks,  -  Herbert Hicks.  Mabel Hicks married Roy Smith and lives in Forsyth, Missouri.  William Hicks lives in Texas.  Herbert Hicks married and lives in Forsyth, Missouri.  Thomas B. Casey never married and died around 1880.  Jefferson Casey married Julie Bachart and they had three children:  -  Bertha Casey,  -  Claudia Casey,  -  Manford Casey.  Bertha Casey married Ed Stokley.  Bertha married a second time to a Mr. Queen and they live in California.  Claudia Casey married Julius Roberts and lives in Rockaway Beach, Missouri.  Manford Casey married and lives in Bronson, Missouri.

Benjamin Casey married Tisha Lewallen and they had six children:  -  Ralph Casey,  -  Ray Casey,  -  Reston Casey,  -  Rockford Bill Casey,  -  Esta Casey,  -  Marie Casey.  James Casey married Martha Ellen Shawley and they had eight children:  -  Earl Casey,  -  Elsie Casey,  -  Esther Casey,  -  Winnie Casey,  -  Lillian Casey,  -  Mary Casey,  -  George Casey,  -  Jesse Casey.  Earl Casey lives in Pampa, Texas.  Winnie Casey married and lives in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  William Casey married Amanda Ellen Haggard and they had six children:  -  Alpha Casey,  -  Mike Casey,  -  Vernon Casey,  -  Edna Casey,  -  Haydon Casey,  -  Ivan Casey.  Alpha Casey married Gaba Roberts and they live in Rockaway, Missouri.  Vernon Casey married and lives in Rockaway, Missouri.  Haydon Casey married.

STERLING PRICE CASEY (8.4.1.2.5) is the son of William D. Casey and Missouri Catherine (Cook) Casey.  Sterling was born on February 6, 1863 in Taney County, Missouri.  Sterling Casey married Verna Jones and they werer the parents of nine children:

DOCK DENNIS CASEY (8.4.1.2.9) is the son of William D. Casey and Missouri Catherine (Cook) Casey.  Dock was born on September 1, 1872 in Taney County, Missouri.  Dock Casey married Ada Dunn and they were the parents of three children:

  Opal Earline Casey, b. October 13, 1924, Taney County, Missouri
  Dock Dennis Casey, Jr., b. November 7, 1926, Taney County, Missouri
  John William Casey, b. October 7, 1931, Taney County, Missouri

Dock Casey raised stock and was engaged in the merchantile business in Taneyville, Missouri.  Opal Casey married Paul Mackey and they had two children:  -  Gregory Earl Mackey, b. May 30, 1945,  -  William Doyle Mackey, b. July 5, 1955.  Opal married a second time to H. F. Owen, an attorney, and they have no children.  H. F. and Opal Owen live in Springfield, Missouri.  Dock Casey, Jr. married Patricia Call and they have three children:  -  Tommy Casey, b. 1957,  -  Robert Casey, b. 1959,  -  Michael Casey, b. 1962.  Dock Casey, Jr. works for General Motors in Kansas City, Missouri.  John W. Casey married Isabell Biggs and they have one son:  -  Mart Casey, b. 1958.  John Casey works for the Bendix Company and lives in Kansas City.

FRANCIS MARION CASEY (8.4.1.3) is the son of Levi Casey and Polly (Haggard) Casey.  Marion was born in 1835 in Tennessee.  Marion Casey married Elizabeth Carr (born 1837 in Tennessee).  In 1860, Marion and Elizabeth Casey were living in Taney County, Missouri.  Marion and Elizabeth Casey were the parents of three children:

  Marion Columbus Casey, b. 1855, Taney County, Missouri
  Ellen Casey, b. 1857, Taney County, Missouri
  Pedro Castillo Casey, b. 1859, Taney County, Missouri

Elizabeth (Carr) Casey died during the Civil War.  Marion Casey married a second time to Rebecca Brandon (born 1845 in Tennessee).  Marion and Rebecca Casey were the parents of ten children:

Marion Casey served in the Union Army during the Civil War and was at the battle of Wilson Creek.  In 1886, Marion Casey moved to Oklahoma Territory and settled about twenty miles south of Bristow.  In 1910, Marion and Rebecca Casey were living with their son, James Casey, in Okfuskee County, Oklahoma.  Marion Casey died in Oklahoma in 1926.

Martin Casey married Eula Alspaugh.  Martin Casey married a second time to a woman named, Mary.  Thomas Casey married Nettie Blyue and they had six children:  -  Gladys Casey,  -  Gale Casey,  -  Alice Casey,  -  Margie Casey,  -  Goldie Casey,  -  Tom Houston Casey.  Thomas Casey lived near Pryor, Oklahoma and moved to California in 1936.  Gladys Casey married Earl Steele.  Gladys (Casey) Steele died in 1937.  Gale Casey married Harlen Stamper.  Gale married a second time to Celair Granger.  Margie Casey married Alfred Murray.  Goldie Casey married Leslie May.

Around 1892, Benjamin Casey married Mary Suckey High of Berryville, Arkansas and they lived in Carroll County, Arkansas for several years.  Ben and Mary Casey had nine children:  -  Clara Ester Casey, b. September 6, 1893,  -  Maude Casey, b. February 18, 1896,  -  William Casey, b. 1898,  -  Anna Casey, b. January 25, 1900,  -  Joe Casey, b. June 30, 1902,  -  Vivian Casey, b. July 20, 1909,  -  Nina Casey, b. May 17, 1911,  -  Chester Casey, b. January 19, 1914,  -  Tressa Casey,  -  Georgia Casey.  Later, they moved to Longmont, Colorado.  Ben Casey died in 1926 in Longmont, Colorado.  Mary (High) Casey then returned to Carroll County, Arkansas and later married Saul Brisco.  Clara Casey married Dave Martin.  Maude Casey married Gus Gott.  William Casey married Stella Mayhorst.  Anna Casey married Ralph Sykes.  Anna married a second time to Bill Garner.  Joe Casey married Sallie Stewart.  Nina Casey married Jess Williams.  Chester Casey married Cynthia Beall.  Tressa Casey married Clyde Ray.  Georgia Casey married Bill Smith.

Jack Casey married Nora Pritts.  James Casey married Josie Blyus.  James Casey married a second time to Flora Cloats.  Nora Casey married a Mr. Denny.  Mary Casey married a Mr. Selvidge.  Lilly Casey married Joe Crawford.  Josie (or Mary) Casey died at the age of ten years.
