FINUS EWING BRYAN (4) is the son of Samuel Bryan and Charlotte Greer (Charter) Bryan.  Finus was born on June 1, 1840 in Maury County, Tennessee.  On November 18, 1858, Finus Ewing Bryan married Caledonia Ann Revere.  Caledonia was born on March 1, 1842 in Maury County, Tennessee and is the daughter of William Revere (21) and Mary (Williamson) Revere, both direct ancestors of the authors.  For additional information on the descendants of William and Mary Revere, see the sketch of William Revere.  Finus and Caledonia Bryan were the parents of eleven children:

From 1860 to 1870, Finus and Caledonia Bryan were living in Maury County, Tennessee.  In March of 1864, Finus Bryan was elected to the office of constable in Maury County, Tennessee.  From 1880 to 1910, Finus and Caledonia Bryan were living in Hill County, Texas.  Finus Ewing Bryan died on June 18, 1915 and Caledonia Ann (Revere) Bryan died on December 25, 1915.  Both died in Brandon, Texas and both were buried near Brandon, Texas.  Mary Donia Bryan died at the age of thirteen on January 6, 1876.  In 1910, James R. Bryan was still living with his parents in Hill County, Texas.  James Robert Bryan never married and died on December 24, 1935 in Jean, Texas and was buried in Brandon, Texas.

WILLIAM SAMUEL BRYAN (4.1) is the son of Finus Ewing Bryan and Caledonia Anne (Revere) Bryan.  Sam was born on September 16, 1859 in Maury County, Tennessee.  On September 16, 1887, Sam Bryan married Ollie Josephine McIlvain in Hillsboro, Texas.  Ollie was born on April 12, 1868 in Sadellia, Missouri and is the daughter of Moses McIlvain and Mary Ann (Dawson) McIlvain.  Sam and Ollie Bryan were the parents of eleven children:

From 1900 to 1930, William and Ollie Bryan were living in Coleman County, Texas.  After Sam and Ollie married, they farmed for four years near Brandon, Texas.  Sam and his father-in-law, Moses McIlvain, had visited Coleman County in 1887 and later in 1891, Sam and his family moved there, two miles north of Rockwood, Texas on a farm belonging to his father-in-law.  They lived in a dug out house until their house was built with lumber hauled by wagon and team from Santa Anna, Texas.  Sam Bryan was an outstanding businessman, farmer and rancher who raised white face Herford cattle.  Sam was owner of the Bryan Merchantile Store in Rockwood for many years.  He was Director of the Rockwood State Bank until the bank consolidated with Coleman National Bank on December 8, 1921.  From January of 1922 to 1934, Sam was Director of the Santa Anna National Bank.  Ollie (McIlvain) Bryan died on April 11, 1932 in Rockwood, Texas and William Samuel Bryan died on February 17, 1934 in Santa Anna, Texas.  Both were buried in Rockwood, Texas.  Robert Bryan died of burns at the age of two years when he spilled hot water on himself in 1900.  Sam and Ollie Bryan had another daughter that died at birth on October 20, 1911.

MELVIN DRAKE BRYAN (4.1.1) is the son of William Samuel Bryan and Ollie Josephine (McIlvain) Bryan.  Melvin was born on June 27, 1888 in Brandon, Texas.  On January 1, 1915, Melvin Drake married Cora Mattie Burson (born August 28, 1895 in Texas).  Melvin and Cora Bryan were the parents of eleven children:

LOIS BELL BRYAN (4.1.1.1) is the daughter of Melvin Drake Bryan and Cora Mattie (Burson) Bryan.  Lois was born on December 22, 1916 in Rockwood, Texas.  On April 17, 1936, Lois Bryan married John Thomas Avants.  J. T. was born on May 21, 1913 in Concord, Texas.  J. T. and Lois Avants had two children:

CLOVA OLLINE BRYAN (4.1.1.2) is the daughter of Melvin Drake Bryan and Cora Mattie (Burson) Bryan.  Clova was born on March 19, 1918 in Rockwood, Texas.  On November 1, 1943, Clova Bryan married Luther Roland Joslin in San Angelo, Texas.  Luther was born on Januray 3, 1920 in Ozna, Texas.  Luther and Clova were the parents of three children:

RAY MELVIN BRYAN (4.1.1.3) is the son of Melvin Drake Bryan and Cora Mattie (Burson) Bryan.  Ray was born on April 18, 1919 in Rockwood, Texas.  On April 19, 1942, Ray Bryan married Neita Alice Ashmore in Los Angeles, California.  Neita was born on November 16, 1921 in Dallas, Texas.  Ray and Neita Bryan were the parents of three children:

   Geary Edward Bryan, b. August 7, 1947, Santa Monica, California

Ray Bryan worked as a welder for Douglas Aircraft in Santa Monica, California.  Ray was involved with delicate welding operations for the space craft that went to the moon as well as other space crafts.  On July 19, 1964, Helen Bryan married Charles Wayne Giacci (born January 24, 1945 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania) in Santa Monica, California and they have two children:  -  Charles Wayne Giacci, Jr., b. June 28, 1966, Santa Monica, California,  -  David Keith Giacci, b. June 11, 1968, Santa Monica, California.

On May 29, 1971, Geary Bryan married Mrs. Rheina Sheila Rogart (born November 2, 1943 in Los Angeles, California) in West Los Angeles, California and they had no children.  On May 1, 1976, Geary Bryan married a second time in Thousand Oaks, California to Neva Gean Davis.  Neva was born on June 12, 1948 in Kansas City, Kansas and is the daughter of Charles Nedley Davis and Ida Pearl (Ward) Davis.  Geary and Neva Bryan have two sons:  -  Garret Davis Bryan, b. June 27, 1980, Van Nuys, California,  -  Arther Davis Bryan, b. February 8, 1982, Van Nuys, California.  On November 19, 1975, Susan Bryan married Douglas William Beckling in Las Vegas, Nevada.

SAMUEL THOMAS BRYAN (4.1.3) is the son of William Samuel Bryan and Ollie Josephine (McIlvain) Bryan.  Tom was born on February 14, 1892 in Rockwood, Texas.  On February 4, 1920, Tom Bryan married Fannie Fern Whetstone in Santa Anna, Texas.  Fannie was born on April 9, 1894 in Texas.  Samuel and Fannie Bryan were the parents of two children:

From 1920 to 1930, “Thomas” and Fannie Bryan were living in Coleman County, Texas.  Tom Bryan died of a heart attack on February 7, 1963 and was buried in the Rockwood, Cemetery.  Mary Tom Bryan died of pneumonia on January 22, 1944 in San Marcos, Texas and was buried in the Rockwood Cemetery.  In 1942, Margaret Bryan married Eldon Drew Black in Seattle, Washington and they have three children:  -  Gary Bryan Black, b. September, 1947, San Angelo, Texas,  -  Mary Elaine Black, b. 1950, San Angelo, Texas,  -  Jana Kay Black, b. January, 1960, San Angelo, Texas.  Eldon and Margaret Black were divorced in 1966.

JOSHUA B. BRYAN (4.1.4) is the son of William Samuel Bryan and Ollie Josephine (McIlvain) Bryan.  Joshua was born on July 25, 1894 in Rockwood, Texas.  In 1917, Joshua Bryan married Virgie Ethel Shufford (born September 26, 1894) in Rockwood, Texas and they were the parents of two children:

   John Will Bryan (4.1.4.1), b. April 18, 1918
   Dany Dotwrage Bryan (4.1.4.2), b. October 26, 1920

Ethel (Shufford) Bryan died on March 25, 1952 in Abilene, Texas and was buried there in the Cedar Hill Cemetery.  Joshua Bryan died of cancer on July 18, 1975 in Irran, Texas and was buried in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Abilene, Texas.

FRANK BRYAN (4.1.5) is the son of William Samuel Bryan and Ollie Josephine (McIlvain) Bryan.  Frank was born on July 9, 1896 in Rockwood, Texas.  On November 22, 1922, Frank Bryan married Ester Lavenia Wise in Brownwood, Texas.  Ester was born on November 10, 1900 in Franklin, Texas.  Frank and Ester Bryan were the parents of three children:

   Curtis Allen Bryan, b. August 10, 1923, Rockwood, Texas
   Minnie Jean Bryan, b. February 21, 1928, Rockwood, Texas
   Patsy Faye Bryan, b. March 25, 1937, Brady, Texas

In 1930, Frank and Ester Bryan were living in Coleman County, Texas.  Ester (Wise) Bryan died on August 16, 1972 in Coleman, Texas and Frank Bryan died of injuries from a car accident on January 13, 1975 in Brownwood, Texas.  Both were buried in the Rockwood Cemetery in Rockwood, Texas.  On May 2, 1946, Curtis Bryan married Betty Jane Hunter (born October 5, 1926 in Coleman, Texas) in Brownwood, Texas and they have one daughter:  -  LeAnn Bryan, b. January 7, 1955, Brady, Texas.  On June 5, 1976, LeAnn Bryan married Jack Thomas Boyd.

On April 28, 1950, Minnie Bryan married Wayne William Bray (born July 9, 1928 in Waldrip, Texas) in Rochell, Texas and they have four daughters:  -  Frankie Jean Bray, b. December 21, 1950, Brady, Texas,  -  Johnny Lee Bray, b. October 23, 1953, Brady, Texas,  -  Debra Ruth Bray, b. December 26, 1955, Fort Worth, Texas,  -  Kim Bray, b. September 26, 1959, Brady, Texas.  On March 28, 1970, Frankie Bray married John Wofford Gregg (born September 1, 1947) in Rockwood, Texas and they have two daughters:  -  Carla Jean Gregg, b. September 2, 1972, Coleman, Texas,  -  Lucy Marie Gregg, b. February 29, 1976, Coleman, Texas.  On April 20, 1957, Patsy Bryan married Mack Will Hambright (born December 4, 1932) and they have four children:  -  Kathy Ruth Hambright, b. October 15, 1958, Shamrock, Texas,  -  Mark Will Hambright, b. November 18, 1960, Coleman, Texas,  -  Jan Hambright (twin), b. June 12, 1963, Coleman, Texas,  -  Jill Hambright (twin), b. OCTAVIE MYRTLE BRYAN (4.1.7) is the daughter of William Samuel Bryan and Ollie Josephine (McIlvain) Bryan.  Tavie was born on October 31, 1901 in Rockwood, Texas.  On January 1, 1929, Tavie Bryan married Dink Carl Snider in Santa Anna, Texas.  Dink was born on September 21, 1899 in Franklin, Texas.  Dink and Tavie Snider were the parents of four children:

   Ollie LaVenia Snider, b. October 17, 1929, Santa Anna, Texas
   Venita Earl Snider, b. February 11, 1936, Santa Anna, Texas
   Fern LaNell Snider, b. September 29, 1938, Brady, Texas

In 1930, Dink and Tavie Snider were living in Coleman County, Texas.  Octavie (Bryan) Snider died on November 13, 1976 in Rockwood, Texas and Dink Carl Snider died on September 2, 1982 in Rockwood, Texas.  Both were buried in the Rockwood Cemetery in Rockwood, Texas.  On May 29, 1955, LaVenia Snider married John Patterson Powell in Brownwood, Texas and they have two children:  -  Phillip Carl Powell, b. January 10, 1958, Paris, Texas,  -  Carla Denise Powell, b. April 10, 1958, Tyler, Texas.  On July 10, 1957, Venita Snider married Lester George Brooks in Brownwood, Texas and they have two sons:  -  Kent Alfred Brooks, b. April 16, 1959, Badkreauzach, Germany,  -  Dale Thomas Brooks, b. December 12, 1963, Santa Fe, New Mexico.  On July 26, 1958, Nell Snider married John Mack Brooks (born May 25, 1937 in Comanche, Texas) in Denton, Texas and they have two sons:  -  Allan Ray Brooks, b. May 5, 1959, Fort Worth, Texas,  -  Stephen L. Brooks, b. April 30, 1962, Fort Worth, Texas.  Dink and Tavie Snider’s last child died at birth on October 3, 1941.

EVELYN BIRCH BRYAN (4.1.8) is the daughter of William Samuel Bryan and Ollie Josephine (McIlvain) Bryan.  Evelyn was born on April 14, 1903 in Rockwood, Texas.  In 1929, Evelyn Bryan married Columbus Hilton Wise in Coleman, Texas.  Columbus was born on December 20, 1902 in Franklin, Texas.  Columbus and Evelyn Wise were the parents of five children:

January 31, 1957, Fort Worth, Texas,  -  John Birch Smith, b. July 24, 1959, Fort Worth, Texas.  J. R. and Kelly Smith were divorced in 1966.  Dolores Wise married William Forbes Black and they have three children:  -  Kelly Hilton Black, b. Biloxi, Mississippi,  -  William Forbes Black, Jr., b. Fort Worth, Texas,  -  Corey Black, b. LEWIS LEE BRYAN (4.1.9) is the son of William Samuel Bryan and Ollie Josephine (McIlvain) Bryan.  Lewis was born on August 12, 1904 in Rockwood, Texas.  In 1930, Lewis Bryan was living alone in Coleman County, Texas.  On May 29, 1932, Lewis Bryan married Alma Lynn Hornsby in Coleman, Texas.  Alma was born on October 1, 1906 in Comanche, Texas.  Lewis and Alma Bryan were the parents of one son:

   Charles Kenneth Bryan, b. January 13, 1938, Santa Anna, Texas

Lewis Bryan died from burns received when his home caught fire on June 14, 1965.  Lewis was flown by air ambulance to Parkland Hospital in Dallas but died there on June 15, 1965.  Lewis Bryan was buried in the Coleman Cemetery in Coleman, Texas.  Kenneth Bryan never married and is a Mason.

December 28, 1954, Santa Anna, Texas.  On April 7, 1974, Andera Hodges married Walter Keith Thomas and they have one son:  -  Christopher Keith Thomas, b. August 4, 1975, Fort Worth, Texas.  On February 18, 1954, Wanda Hodges married Royce Grady McIver (born February 7, 1935 in Trickham, Texas) in Talpa, Texas and they have two children:  -  Sabrina Joy McIver, b. March 20, 1955, Santa Anna, Texas,  -  Brettly Royce McIver, b. June 2, 1960, Kermit, Texas.  On November 17, 1972, Sabrina McIver married Artie Wayne Smith (born December 24, 1952 in Midland, Texas) in Midland, Texas and they have one son:  -  Bryan Wayne Smith, b. June 24, 1973, Midland, Texas.  On October 29, 1966, James Hodges married Carol Ann Wester (born April 18, 1948 in Coleman, Texas) in Coleman, Texas and they have no children.

BILLY B. BRYAN (4.1.11) is the son of William Samuel Bryan and Ollie Josephine (McIlvain) Bryan.  Billy was born on February 24, 1909 in Rockwood, Texas.  On June 16, 1939, Billy Bryan married Minnie Lois Tucker (born January 18, 1920 in Florence, Texas) in Bertram, Texas and they were the parents of three children:

   Patricia Ann Bryan, b. April 16, 1940, Brady, Texas
   Judy Lynn Bryan, b. June 4, 1943, Brady, Texas
   Serena Faye Bryan, b. January 3, 1956, Brady, Texas

In August of 1961, Pat Bryan married Jerry Bob McAlister (born September 3, 1941 in Coleman, Texas) in Rockwood, Texas and they have one daughter:  -  Dee Dee McAlister, b. May 26, 1964, Coleman, Texas.  Pat and Jerry Bob McAlister were divorced in May of 1968.
