MARTHA BROOKS (2.6) is the daughter of Jordan Brooks and Mary (Cruse) Brooks.  Martha was born in 1794 in Edgefield County, South Carolina.  Martha Brooks married John Wright Perkins.  Wright was born in 1780 in Georgia.  In 1820, Wright Perkins was living in Putnam County, Georgia.  In 1830, Wright Perkins was living in Upson County, Georgia.  From 1840 to 1850, Wright and Martha Perkins lived in Talbot County, Georgia.  Sometime after 1850, they moved to Stewart County, Georgia.  Wright and Martha Perkins were the parents of at least ten children:

   Robert Perkins, b. 1818, Georgia
   Williamson E. Perkins (2.6.3), b. January 27, 1820, Georgia
   Frances A. Perkins (2.6.4), b. 1824, Georgia

“Brooks Family History” also mentions that Wright and Martha Perkins had a son named Mit.  Williamson Perkins posted a $10,000 bond as administrator of Wright Perkins’ estate in Stewart County, Georgia on July 6, 1857.  Therefore, Wright Perkins probably died in the early part of 1857.  John Wright Perkins was buried in the Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery in Stewart County, Georgia.  In 1860, Martha (Brooks) Perkins was living in Stewart County, Georgia.  Martha (Brooks) Perkins died between 1864 and 1873 and was buried in the Providence Cemetery in Stewart County, Georgia.  Robert Perkins was killed in the Civil War.  Betsey Perkins married a Mr. Holtzclaw.

MARY C. PERKINS (2.6.1) is the daughter of John Wright Perkins and Martha (Brooks) Perkins.  Mary was born in 1813 in Georgia.  In 1845, Mary Brooks married Peter Gates, Jr.  Peter was born in 1812 in South Carolina and is the son of Peter Gates and Nancy Gates.  Peter and Mary Gates were the parents of at least three children:

   Margaret Anna Gates, b. November, 1849
   Peter Gates, III, b. 1850

Peter Gates was a farmer.  In 1850, Peter and Mary Gates were living in Russell County, Alabama.  Peter Gates, Jr. died in 1853 as his wife, Mary, was made administrator of his estate in October of 1853 in Stewart County, Georgia.  From 1860 to 1870, Mary (Perkins) Gates was living in Stewart County, Georgia.  Mary (Perkins) Gates died in 1888 and was buried in the Providence Cemetery in Stewart County, Georgia.  According to “History of Stewart County, Georgia,” Volume 2, Margaret Ann Gates died in 1889 and was buried in the Providence Cemetery in Stewart County, Georgia.  However, Anna Gates (born November, 1849) was living with Foster Perkins (2.6.9.4) in Stewart County, Georgia in 1900.

WILLIAMSON E. PERKINS (2.6.3) is the son of John Wright Perkins and Martha (Brooks) Perkins.  Williamson was born on January 27, 1820 in Georgia.  On December 22, 1840, Williamson Perkins married Eliza Ann Holtzclaw in Talbot County, Georgia.  Eliza was born on August 1, 1825 in Georgia and is the daughter of Horrace Holtzclaw and Mariah Holtzclaw.  In 1850, Williamson and Eliza Perkins were living in Talbot County, Georgia and they were the parents of at least three children:

   James Wright Perkins, b. 1843, Talbot County, Georgia
   Susan (Martha) Perkins, b. 1845, Talbot County, Georgia

Williamson and Eliza Perkins had a son who died in young manhood.  In 1860, Williamson and Eliza Perkins were living in Stewart County, Georgia.  Williamson Perkins was a farmer.  Williamson Perkins was killed in the Battle of Griswoldville during the Civil War and was buried in the Providence Cemetery in Stewart County, Georgia.  Eliza (Holtzclaw) Perkins died on April 15, 1867 and was also buried in the Providence Cemetery.  A daughter of Williamson and Eliza Perkins married a Mr. Fleming and they had one son, William Fleming, who married Maggie Kimble.  On December 17, 1865, James Perkins married Sarah W. Baker in Stewart County, Georgia.  James Wright Perkins served in Company E of the 31st Georgia Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War.  Both James and his wife applied for pensions while living in Walton County, Georgia.

MARIAH JANE PERKINS (2.6.3.1) is the daughter of Williamson E. Perkins and Eliza Ann (Holtzclaw) Perkins.  Mariah was born on November 25, 1841 in Talbot County, Georgia.  On October 27, 1860, Mariah Perkins married George W. Keith in Stewart County, Georgia and they were the parents of one son:

   George W. Keith, Jr., b. May 22, 1862

On March 28, 1865, Mariah (Perkins) Keith married Michael Theophilus Duskin in Stewart County, Georgia.  Michael was born in 1840 in Georgia and is the son of John Little Berry Duskin and Mary (Hardie) Duskin.  Michael and Mariah Duskin were the parents of four children:

Michael Duskin was a farmer and served in Company K of the Second Georgia Infantry during the Civil War.  In 1880, Michael and Mariah Duskin were living in Stewart County, Georgia.  Michael Duskin also lived in Quitman County, Georgia.  Michael Duskin died after 1900 and was buried in the Providence Cemetery.  Mariah Jane (Perkins) Duskin died on May 10, 1908 and was buried in the Providence Cemetery.  George Keith, Jr. died on December 20, 1862 and was buried in the Providence Cemetery in Stewart County, Georgia.  Eula Duskin died in 1879 and Ola Duskin died on April 18, 1873.  Lena Duskin married David Kaigler and they had four children:  -  Mariah Kaigler,  -  Eva Eula Kaigler,  -  Charlie Kaigler,  -  David Kaigler, Jr.  Lena (Duskin) Kaigler lived in Eufaula, Alabama.  Mary Duskin died on September 8, 1876.

FRANCES A. PERKINS (2.6.4) is the daughter of John Wright Perkins and Martha (Brooks) Perkins.  Frances was born in 1824 in Georgia.  In 1849, Frances Perkins married Riley Hill Waller (born May 7, 1824 in Georgia).  Riley and Frances Waller were the parents of at least eight children:

In 1850, Riley and Frances Waller were living in Talbot County, Georgia.  From 1860 to 1880, they were living in Stewart County, Georgia.  Riley Waller was a farmer and a Mason.  Riley Waller died on October 9, 1889 and was buried in the Providence Cemetery in Stewart County, Georgia.  William Waller (born 1850) probably died prior to 1865 as Riley and Frances Waller named a second son William in 1865.  Mary Waller married Scott Adams.  Sidney Waller married Laura Hilliard and they had three children:  -  Emory Littleton Waller, b. August 16, 1884,  -  Thomas L. Waller, b. September, 1887,  -  Olin L. Waller, b. March 17, 1894.  Laura was born in September of 1855 and is the daughter of Littleton Hilliard.  Emory Waller died on December 5, 1956 and was buried in the Omaha Cemetery in Stewart County, Georgia.  Olin Waller was a veteran of World War I and died on September 4, 1938.  In 1900, Sidney Waller was living in Stewart County, Georgia.  On December 22, 1881, Martha Susan Waller married John G. McRee in Florence, Georgia and they had no children.  Susan (Waller) McRee died prior to 1884 and was buried in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Stewart County, Georgia.  John McRee later married Martha J. ISHAM ELDRIDGE PERKINS (2.6.5) is the son of John Wright Perkins and Martha (Brooks) Perkins.  Isham was born on July 15, 1824 in Georgia.  In 1850, Isham Perkins was living alone in Talbot County, Georgia.  On December 4, 1851, Isham Perkins married Susan Waller in Talbot County, Georgia.  Susan was born on June 10, 1822 in Georgia and is the daughter of Archielas Waller and Mary (Hammell) Waller.  Isham and Susan Perkins were the parents of at least six children:

SARAH ELIZABETH PERKINS (2.6.5.2) is the daughter of Isham Eldridge Perkins and Susan (Waller) Perkins.  Sallie was born in 1856 in Talbot County, Georgia.  In 1879, Sallie Perkins married Robert Henry Cooper and they moved to Columbus, Georgia where Robert was a merchant.  Robert had one daughter, Nora Cooper, by a previous marriage.  Robert and Sallie Cooper were the parents of at least seven children:

January 7, 1911,  -  Foster Cooper, b. August 5, 1915,  -  Cameron Cooper, b. December 16, 1918,  -  Boonie Perkins Cooper, b. December 17, 1925.  Clarice Cooper married J. B. Cooper and they had one daughter:  -  Angela Cooper.  Angela Cooper married Doyal Shaddix and they had one son:  -  Billy Shaddix.  Foster Cooper never married and died on May 13, 1951 of a rare kidney disease.  Cameron Cooper married Grace Hamrick and they had no children.  Cameron died on July 18, 1957 of a heart attack.  Boonie Perkins Cooper never married and died in July of 1957.  Boonie Cooper died of pneumonia on April 30, 1925.

Charlie Cooper married C. H. Gilley and they had three sons:  -  Denver Gilley,  -  Paschal Gilley,  -  Powell Gilley.  Denver Gilley married and has one daughter:  -  Barbara Gilley.  Paschal Gilley married and had at least one son:  -  Paschal Gilley, Jr. who is a Southern Baptist Minister and serves on the Board of Trustees for Tift College.  Paschal Gilley, Sr. died in an car accident when in his seventies.  Powell Gilley died as an infant.  Charlie (Cooper) Gilley died in her twenties.  Florida Cooper married Henry Heard and they had six children:  -  Coy Heard, b. March 11, 1918,  -  Pauline Heard,  -  Grace Heard,  -  Blanche Heard,  -  Cooper Heard,  -  Wayne Heard.  Coy Heard married Mary Wilson but and they no children.  Coy Heard died in a train accident.  Pauline Heard married Dalton Beavers, a farmer, and they had one daughter:  -  Nancy Heard Beavers.  Grace Heard married Richard Roberts, Jr., a United States Government Postal Employee, and they had one son:  -  Richard Roberts, III.  Blanche Heard married F. T. Jordan and they had two children:  -  Allen Jordan,  -  Donna Jordan.  Cooper Heard died in a car accident in Washignton, D. C. when he was in his early twenties.  Wayne Heard married Ellerline Pittman and they had two sons:  -  James Heard,  -  Denny Heard.  Bennett Cooper served in World War I in the Transportation Corps stationed in France.  Bennett married Ethely Blount and they had no children.  Bennett was in the real estate business and died of cancer on October 22, 1962.

WILLIE JAMES COOPER (2.6.5.2.1) is the daughter of Robert Henry Cooper and Sarah Elizabeth (Perkins) Cooper.  Willie was born on November 13, 1880.  In December of 1902, Willie Cooper married Arthur Gresham Henslee in Heard County, Georgia.  Arthur and Willie Henslee moved to Villa Rica, Georgia where Arthur was in business with his father who had several stores.  Arthur and Willie Henslee were the parents of four children:

   Grace Henslee (2.6.5.2.1.1), b. November 23, 1903
   Mary Henslee, b. May 11, 1910
   James Arthur Henslee, b. August 17, 1911
   Billy Henslee, b. November 10, 1917

Willie (Cooper) Henslee died in August of 1970.  Mary Henslee attended the University of Georgia and Columbia University and graduated from Madison College.  She taught schools in Georgia and Virginia.  In 1940, Mary Henslee married Wallace Humphry Lynn.  Wallace and Mary Lynn have one son:  -  Wallace Humphry Lynn, Jr.  Wallace Lynn, Jr. graduated from William and Mary College and works for Honeywell with computers in Roanoke, Virginia.  Wallace Lynn, Jr. married Janet Fohs and they have two children:  -  Wallace Humphry Lynn, III, b. December 31, 1970,  -  Sharon Lynn, b. May 18, 1973.  James Henslee attended South Georgia Teacher’s College and established a trucking business.  James Henslee married Ruth Hammock and they had one daughter:  -  Patsy Henslee.  Patsy Henslee attended William and Mary College and married Fred Stover who graduated from Georgia Tech in Ceramics.  Fred and Patsy Stover live in Ohio and they have four children:  -  Stephen Stover,  -  Staci Stover,  -  Shana Stover,  -  Scott Stover.  James Arthur Henslee was murdered by hitch hikers near Harlan, Kentucky in January of 1940.  Billy Henslee attended Tift College.  In 1948, Billy Henslee married Henry Moore.  Henry is an executive of the Southern Railway and they live in Atlanta, Georgia.  Henry and Billy Moore had one daughter:  -  Mary James Moore, b. February 15, 1950.  In August of 1974, Mary Moore married Michael Quillen who is a law graduate from Duke University.  Michael and Mary Quillen have two children:  -  Henry Clay Quillen, b. February 26, 1978,  -  Mary Rodgers Quillen, b. March 16, 1981.

GRACE HENSLEE (2.6.5.2.1.1) is the daughter of Arthur Gresham Henslee and Willie James (Cooper) Henslee.  Grace was born on November 23, 1903.  Grace graduated from Tift College in 1924 and received a Master’s degree from the University of Georgia in 1929.  She also attended Columbia University.  Grace taught school in Georgia and Florida and taught at South Georgia Teacher’s College.  In 1930, she moved to Virginia and was Elementary Supervisor.  In June of 1938, Grace Henslee married John Henry Massie of Edinburg, Virginia.  John Henry Massie was an economist and farmer.  John and Grace Massie are the parents of two daughters:

Sallie Massie graduated from Madison College and received a Master’s degree from the University of Virginia.  In 1966, Sallie Massie married Bobby Charles Raynor and they live in Vicksburg, Mississippi.  Bobby and Sallie Raynor have three children:  -  Cora Leigh Raynor, b. 1969,  -  Mildred Michelle Raynor, b. 1971,  -  John Massie Raynor, b. 1973.  Susan Massie graduated in Drama from Mary Baldwin College in 1967 and from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia in 1974.  In August of 1975, Susan Massie married Richard Irving Johnson and they have two daughters:  -  Sarah Grace Massie-Johnson, b. November 23, 1977,  -  Mary Elizabeth Massie-Johnson, b. February 28, 1979.

BERNIE MAE COOPER (2.6.5.2.5) is the daughter of Robert Henry Cooper and Sarah Elizabeth (Perkins) Cooper.  Bernie was born on May 3, 1887.  Bernie Cooper married Grover Cleveland Nutt and they were the parents of three children:

   Dewey Nutt, b. November 12, 1906
   Sherman DeWitt Nutt, b. May 7, 1908
   Sarah Kate Nutt, b. July 17, 1910

Grover Nutt was a steam boiler operator and a cabinet maker.  Dewey Nutt married Rosa Horsley and they had no children.  Dewey was a cabinet maker and died on September 28, 1971.  Sherman Nutt married Flossie Purguson and they had one daughter:  -  Camilla Nutt, b. 1939.  Camilla Nutt married Billy Godfrey and they had two sons:  -  Rickey Godfrey,  -  Gary Godfrey.  Sarah Nutt married James Van Devitte, a contractor.  James and Sallie Devitte had one daughter:  -  Bobby Jean Devitte, b. June 6, 1931.  Bobby Jean attended the University of Georgia and then went into nursing.  Bobby Jean married J. W. Molton and they had four children:  -  Michael Vam Molton, b. July 20, 1951,  -  William Robert Molton, b. October 2, 1955,  -  Cynthia Jeane Molton, b. June 21, 1957,  -  Lyle Clark Molton, b. November 9, 1958.  J. W. Molton is now retired from the United States Army.

ELLA PERKINS (2.6.5.3) is the daughter  of Isham Eldridge Perkins and Susan (Waller) Perkins.  Ella was born in 1857 in Talbot County, Georgia.  Ella Perkins married William Ellis “Babe” Worthington.  William was born on September 4, 1849 in Stewart County, Georgia and is the son of Richard Worthington (born 1811 in North Carolina) and Penelope (Abbott) Worthington (born 1811 in North Carolina).  William and Ella Worthington were the parents of two children:

   Daisy Belle Worthington, b. October, 1882, Georgia
   Willie May Worthington

In 1880, Babe and Ella Worthington were living in Stewart County, Georgia.  Ella (Perkins) Worthington died prior to 1887 and was buried in the Providence Church Cemetery in Stewart County, Georgia.  William Worthington later married to Ella’s sister, Eliphlet Perkins.  For additional information on the descendants of William and Eliphlet Worthington, see the sketch of Ella Perkins (2.6.5.6).  Daisy Worthington married a Mr. Peddie.  On March 1, 1907, Daisy Worthington married a second time to Frank W. Sheppard in Terrell County, Georgia.  Daisy (Worthington) Sheppard died on July 20, 1972.  Willie May Worthington married Marvin Skinner.  Willie (Worthington) Skinner died on October 3, 1961.

Perkins married Susan Edna Sherman.  Edna was born on November 3, 1871 in Georgia and is the daughter of Thomas Jefferson Sherman and Martha Louisiana (Moore) Sherman.  William and Edna Sherman were the parents of seven children:

From 1900 to 1910, William Perkins was living in Stewart County, Georgia.  William and Edna Perkins also had two sons who died in infancy.  William B. Perkins died on July 7, 1942 and was buried in the Lumpkin Cemetery in Stewart County, Georgia.  Thomas Perkins married Pearl Collins of Plain Dealing, Louisiana and they had no children.  Thomas Perkins married a second time to Irene Lindig of Beallsville, Maryland and they had no children.  During Thomas Perkins’ short life, he attained eminence as a financier, owning a seat in the New York Stock Exchange.  Thomas Perkins died in July of 1933.  Leonard Perkins married Jardine Carter (born July 31, 1900) of Lumpkin, Georgia and they had one son:  -  Jardine Carter Perkins.  They moved to Troy, Alabama where Leonard was engaged in banking.  Jardine (Carter) Perkins died on September 17, 1941.  Leonard Perkins later married Voncile Winters and they had no children.  Louise Perkins married John William Faulkner (born April 17, 1893), a Baptist Minister.  John and Louise Faulkner had one daughter:  -  Catherine Faulkner, b. September 15, 1928.  Catherine Faulkner married Woodrow Goddard and they had one son:  -  John Gordon Goddard.  John Faulkner died on May 15, 1952.  Catherine (Faulkner) Goddard died on July 4, 1952.  Harvey Perkins and his wife, Lucile Perkins, had two sons and lived in Bristol, Virginia.  Estelle Perkins married Latimer Heard of Elberton, Georgia and they had two children:  -  Estelle Heard,  -  Latimer Heard, Jr.  David Perkins married Royace Scott and they had two children:  -  Susan Perkins,  -  Linda Perkins.  David Perkins and his second wife, Pauline Perkins, had one son:  -  David Harold Perkins.

ESTELLE A. PERKINS (2.6.5.5) is the daughter of Isham Eldridge Perkins and Susan (Waller) Perkins.  Estelle “Missie” was born in 1862 in Georgia.  Estelle Perkins married James Walter Tilley.  James was born on May 27, 1861 in Stewart County, Georgia and is the son of Lewis Lee Tilley and Mary Ann Tilley.  James received a degree from the University of Kentucky.  He developed a large merchantile business and later raised pure bred Hereford cattle.  James and Estelle Tilley were the parents of five children:

   Lewis Lee Tilley

   Perkins Tilley

Estelle (Perkins) Tilley died in 1922 and James Walter Tilley died on February 25, 1924.  Lewis Tilley married Martha Wright and Mary Tilley married Gerue Dunn.

WALTER TILLEY (2.6.5.5.2) is the daughter of James Walter Tilley and Estelle (Perkins) Tilley.  Walter was born on February 2, 1891.  On November 24, 1913, Walter Tilley married Marvin DeKalb Pierce.  Marvin was born on October 2, 1890 in the County Line Community of Stewart County, Georgia and is the son of Homer Lucius Pierce and Nancy Hepsey (Veal) Pierce.  Marvin attended Mercer University and first worked for his father-in-law, James Walter Tilley, as a bookkeeper.  Marvin was at one time the President of the Bank of Parrott, Georgia and later opened the Pierce Exchange Bank at Parrott.  Marvin also owned a 1000 acre cotton farm in Terrell County, Georgia and a 1800 acre plantation in Randolph County, Georgia.  Marvin and Walter Pierce were the parents of one son:

   Marvin DeKalb Pierce, Jr., b. December 3, 1914

Walter (Tilley) Pierce died on November 25, 1956 and Marvin Pierce, Sr. died on January 7, 1967.  Marvin Pierce, Jr. married Ruth Martin (born September 15, 1914) of Shellman and resided in Winder, Georgia.  Marvin and Ruth Pierce had two children:  -  Marvin DeKalb Pierce, III, b. October 28, 1933,  -  Francis Martin Pierce, b. December 26, 1946.  Marvin Pierce, Jr. died on December 24, 1964 and Marvin Pierce, III died on September 17, 1968.

In 1900, William and Eliphlet Worthington were living in Stewart County, Georgia.  Eliphlet (Perkins) Worthington died after 1900 and was buried in the Providence Church Cemetery in Stewart County, Georgia.  William Worthington died in 1914 in Stewart County, Georgia and was buried there in the Providence Cemetery.  On September 7, 1907, Ellie Worthington married Thad Pope in Georgia.  Ellie (Worthington) Pope died in November, 1982.  Rosa Nell Worthington died on March 11, 1962.  Around 1920, James Worthington married Melza Shaver in Alabama.  James and Melza Worthington had three children:  -  Jean Worthington,  -  Daisy Worthington,  -  Lillian Worthington.  James Worthington died on March 3, 1934 in Alabama.  Clyde Worthington married Lewis Hinton.

QUANTRELL EDWARD WORTHINGTON (2.6.5.6.1) is the son of William Ellis Worthington and Eliphlet (Perkins) Worthington.  Quantrell was born on January 17, 1888 in Stewart County, Georgia.On May 4, 1913, Quantrell Worthington married Minnie Jane “Muba” Goins in Stewart County, Georgia.  Minnie was born on May 21, 1890 in Muscogee County, Georgia and is the daughter of James Andrew Goins (born 1858 in Georgia) and Mary Elizabeth (Hamer) Goins (born 1858 in Georgia).  Quantrell and Minnie Worthington were the parents of one son:

Rutledge married Madge Cannington.  Madge is the daughter of William Joseph Cannington and Clara Belle (Goodwin) Cannington.  John M.
